Bio-technology Unit:


Bio-Technology (BT) Unit' means a unit engaged in Research and Development and/or manufacture of products which use or are derived by using

(a) living systems,

(b) enzymes,

(c) Bio-catalysts derived therefrom,

The Unit can be operative in Genetic Engineering, Cell Culture, Bio process engineering, Tissue Engineering, Gene Therapy, Microbiology, Bio-Informatics, Molecular breeding, Protein, Genomics, Bio-Transformation, Bio-chemistry, Pharmacogenomics, Biological Drugs,Regeneration technology etc.


Eligibility criteria 

-Minimum land area :  2 acres or 20,000 Sq.ft. of Built Up Area

Procedure:

Establishment as BT Unit:

Apply in prescribed application form to Competent Authority (For Greater Mumbai: Joint Director of Industries, Mumbai Metropolitan Region ,Rest of the Districts:  General Manager, District Industries Centre , Mumbai Metropolitan Region, the Development Commissioner (Inds.), Directorate of Industries, Mumbai. Out side Mumbai: General Manager, District Industries Centre of respective District) 

along with following documents 

a) Affidavit ( Annexure-V )
b) Certificate from designated Certifying Agency (Annexure -VI)

c) Locational clearance from DI/JDI,MMR/MIDC/Local Authority, as the case may be.

 

 


Existing BT Units can apply for BT Registration with the following documents to Competent Authority.
a) Application for Registration in the prescribed form (Annexure-IV).
b) Affidavit ( Annexure-V )
c) Locational clearance from Directorate of Industries / MIDC Local Authority as the case may be.
d) Chartered Accountant's certificate regarding turnover of Bio-Tech products / activities exceeding 75 % of total turnover (Annexure-VII)
e) BT Letter of Intent ( if obtained )

f) Certificate from designated Certifying Agency (Annexure-VIII for existing BT unit ).


BT Park:

a) Documents for Constitution of the Entity

 

 

 

b) Authorisation- Resolution/ Letter as case may be; 

c) Land documents

  • a. Copy of Challan of fee deposited in Govt. treasury for Rs. 5000/
  • b. Copy of Zone confirmation certificate issued by appropriate authority
  • c. Building Plan approval copy with letter of approval
  • d. Copy of Building construction commencement certificate issued by appropriate authority
    • 1. MPCB consent for establishment of BT Park
      • a. Permission for CETP
      • b. Solid Hazardous waste disposal agreement approval
    • 2. Copy of receipt of application submitted to (Whichever is applicable)
      • a) Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF)
      • b) Genetic Engineering Approval Committee (GEAC).
      • c) Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)
      • d) Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB)
      • e) Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
      • f) Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB)] Govt. of India
      • g) CPCSEA (Committee on Prevention of Cruelty and Supervision of Experiments on Animals)
    • 3. Water supply arrangement made
      • a) Proof of Water supply arrangement for BT Park
      • b) Provision of common supply for distilled water / chilling plant requirement of laboratories likely to be established in BT Park.
    • 4. Motive Power
      • a) Agreement made for dedicated substation for required motive power
      • b) Separate feeder for dedicated substation
      • c) Standby arrangement for not less than 30% of total power requirement.
    • 5. Affidavit in prescribed form provided with application form.
      • a) Agreement made for utilities
        • 1. Chilling plant
        • 2. Steam generation
        • 3. Storage facility ( Raw material and finished product)
    • 6. Building plan approval from Department of Industrial Safety and Health


Benefits

BT/Unit: Industrial Promotion subsidy, Stamp duty exemption and Electricity duty exemption, etc. under Package Scheme of Incentives.


BT Park:

Double floor space index from respective Planning Authority, upon payment of 25 % premium of the present day market value of the land under reference as indicated in the Ready Reckoner.
