Maharashtra Accounts 1/3rd of Bio-tech revenue.

Indian biotechnology sector is expected to grow to $100 billion by 2025. 

100% FDI permitted and automatic route. 


Biotechnology is key focus area 

Maharashtra Biotechnology Board, Maharashtra Biotechnology Commission, and Biotechnology Development Fund, 

Creation SEZ and Biotech park. 

Maharashtra contributes 35% in Biotech sector of India.

Mumbai contributes $56.6 million and Pune $21.9 million.

Biotech Manufacturing facilities in Thane, Navi Mumbai and Aurangabad- 16 Large enterprise and 50 MSME.

VAT+CST abatement & Stamp duty Exemption, Electricity Exemption, Electricity Duty Exemption, 


Special Incentives

Mega and Ultra Mega projects can qualify for fiscal incentives upto 100% of Fixed Capital Investment

10% additional incentives for projects double employement.

 

Policy Incentives

Incentives are provided as per firm's catagorisation, classification of Industrial area, for specific period.

For New units under C, D, D+,  will be exempted from electricity duty  for 15 years.

Under A & B 100% EOU will be exempted from electricity duty for 7 years.


Package Scheme of Incentives for new industrial units/expansion units, in state's developing regions awarded to pharmacutical and biotechnology units, medical

& Surgical appliances, Cold Storage (pharma products). For Mega and Ultra Mega projects will be decided High power committee. Maharashtra Bio-tech provides fiscal and non fiscal incentives.

GoI, has asked RBI to catagrorise Biotech as priority sector.

GoI has set Network or Technology Centers promoting by SIDBI.
