The Business development week focusing on #makeinIndia concept will be celebrated in February 13-18, 2016 in Mumbai. The Business world and World of Business will turn to Mumbai. It will be held at MMRDA Grounds, Bandra-Kurla Complex.

 

The Week is scheduled with variety of programmes spreading from States specific to Sector Specific.

MAKE IN MUMBAI New impetus for a smarter, e-enabled Mumbai- World’s best urban planners and architects to present ideas on successful urban planning-

 

Sessions will include :

– Leveraging technologies to create solutions for challenges faced by the city

– Best practices for building cities by adopting technology                            -Exhibition of the best practices at the Make in India Centre

 

LAUNCH OF MAKE IN INDIA MAGAZINE This one-time edition will showcase some of India’s most creative and dynamic innovators and entrepreneurs across various industries. Launch event on the 17th of February, during the Make in India Week.

 

A day-long session on Global Design & Innovation with founders of leading brands, key decision makers and experts from the fields of fashion, cinema, architecture and management. 15th February 10.30 am onwards.

FOOD FESTIVAL & CULTURAL EVENINGS BY KALA GHODA ARTS FESTIVAL (KGAF) will be held from 13th till 17th February, 17:00 – 22:00 hours. This event will be open to public.

 

ELEPHANTA FESTIVAL BY MAHARASHTRA TOURISM DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (MTDC) will be held on 15th & 16th February, 18:00 – 22:00 hours. This event is by invite and will be open to public.

 

FUSION & CLASSICAL CONCERT – A musical feast for the City, this event will be a showcase of Maharashtra & Mumbai’s musical talent for selected audiences on 16th February, 19:00 – 21:30 hours. This event is by invite only.

 

FASHION SHOW – A Haute Couture from Maharashtra’s most established designers would be taken to the streets of the City on 17th February, 19:00 – 21:30 hours. This event is by invite only.

 

JITISH KALLAT: COVERING LETTER, is a piece of historical correspondence beamed onto a curtain of traversable dry-fog; a brief letter written by Gandhi to Hitler in 1939 urging him to reconsider his violent means. This event will be held until 28th February, 2016 from 10:15 till 18:00 hours, daily.

 

THE SCAPE AND SCOPE, is Tao Art Gallery’s 16th anniversary show. A group show of around 30 artists based on the theme of cityscape. This event will be held from 9th till 15th February, 2016 from 11:00 till 19:00 hours.

 

“SIGHTINGS” – JITISH KALLAT’S, solo exhibition “Sightings” brings together an assembly of conceptual and sensory propositions through a suite of drawings, sculptures, photo-pieces and video. This event will be held from 22nd January till 25th February, 2016 from 11:00 till 19:00 hours, except on sundays.

 

“SMALL WINDOW” – The Group Exhibition that showcases the cultural highs of Indian Contemporary Fine Art. This event will be held from 13th till 27th February, 2016 from 11:00 till 19:00 hours, except on sundays.


“CULTURE AND PLACES OF INDIA” – The exhibition consists of paintings by 8 artists who have profiled the Culture and Places of India in their paintings. This event will be held from 13th till 27th February, 2016 from 11:00 till 19:00 hours.

 

PAGES OF A MIND: RAJA RAVI VARMA – The exhibition consists of paintings by Raja Ravi Verma. This event will be held from 21st February till 30th April, 2016 from 11:00 till 19:00 hours.

 

“HUMANSCAPES: AN AVINASH CHANDRA RETROSPECTIVE” EXHIBITION – DAG Modern, Mumbai presents a retrospective show of Avinash Chandra (1931-91). Curated chronologically, the show seeks to trace the artistic development of the artist who had hitherto, fallen between the cracks in the narrative of Indian Modern Art. This event is being held from 13th December 2015 till 3rd March, 2016 from 11:00 till 16:00 hours, except on sundays.

 

EXHIBITION TITLED “CRICKET CONNECTS”on ‘India-South African Cricket Relations’ by National Council of Sciences Museums. This event will be held from 13th till 15th February, 2016 from 11:00 till 19:00 hours.

 

LIFE ON THE SILVER SCREEN: THE FASCINATING STORY OF INDIAN CINEMA – The travelling exhibition on ‘Life on the Silver Screen: The Fascinating Story of Indian Cinema’ takes a visitor through an absorbing journey of a century of Indian Cinema in a story telling mode with the help of visuals and graphics, film clippings, publicity materials, artifacts/replica, interactive multimedia and many more. This event will be held from 13th till 18th February, 2016 from 11:00 till 21:00 hours.

 

“CONSCIENCE AWAKENED” – SHOW ON SUSTAINABILITY BY AURA ART ECONNECT PVT LTD – Through Art, Aura Art eConnect Pvt Ltd and its artists, particularly Veguri Ravindra Babu, reach out to one and all, and the works continually aim to stir and awaken the conscience of the people who witness it. This event will be held from 11th till 20th February, 2016 from 11:00 till 21:00 hours.

 

THE LIGHTING TESTIMONIES BY AMAR KANWAR –  is a multiple projection video installation that reflects upon a history of conflict in the Indian subcontinent through experiences of sexual violence. This event will be held from 23rd January till 6th March, 2016 from 11:00 till 19:00 hours.

 

IN CONVERSATION: UTE META BAUER AND AMAR KANWAR – a conversation between eminent curator Ute Meta Bauer and artist, Amar Kanwar. This event will be held on 18th February, 2016, from 18:30 hours, onwards.

 

EXHIBITION: TABIYAT: MEDICINE AND HEALING IN INDIA – Tabiyat is the centre-piece of Medicine Corner. The exhibition will examine the history and contemporary practice of sustaining human health in India. This event will be held from 12th January till 28th March, 2016 from 10:15 till 18:00 hours.

 

PERFORMANCE: LECTURE DEMONSTRATION BY MALAVIKA SARUKKAI – Inspired by iconographic representation of the divine, Malavika Sarukkai’s lec-dem highlights the interdisciplinary connection between dance and temple sculpture. This event will be held on 13th January, 2016, from 18:30 hours.

 

EXHIBITION: BHAGVAT GOSHTI – The tradition of performing the Bhagavata with narration, song and dance is at least a thousand years old and continues even today in chowks and courtyards, homes and havelis and reinforces the principal message of Krishna’s love. This event will be held on 16th January, 2016, from 10:15 till 18:00 hours.

 

THE TIMELESS ART OF INDIA – MINIATURE PAINTINGS BY SUVIGYA SHARMA – There are only a few truly recognisable art forms in India that carry the unmistakable creative stamp of a culture like that of Indian Miniature Art. This event will be held from 11th till 24th February, 2016 from 11:00 till 19:00 hours.

 

THE TIMELESS ART OF INDIA – LIVE DEMONSTRATION OF MINIATURE ART TECHNIQUES BY SUVIGYA SHARMA – There are only a few truly recognisable art forms in India that carry the unmistakable creative stamp of a culture like that of Indian Miniature Art. Rooted in Mughal traditions dating back to the 16th Century, this sadly is a dying art form with very few practitioners remaining. This event will be held on 16th February, 2016, from 18:00 hours, onwards.

 

EXHIBITION: INDIA PAST FORWARD, an outdoor display of contemporary and traditional Indian design. As part of IDF(India Design Forum) and Make in India Week. This event will be held from 13th February till April, 2016 from 10:00 till 18:00 hours.

 

EXHIBITION: AFTER MIDNIGHT, Indian Modernism to Contemporary India, 1947/1997, curated by Dr. Arshiya Lokhandwala. This event will be held from 22nd January till 15th March, 2016 from 10:00 till 18:00 hours.

 

WORKSHOP: DESIGNING A PERFUME FOR CHILDREN, conducted by Monika Ghurde who is a perfumer and founder of MO Lab. She will impart a workshop for children aged 8 to 10 (maximum 12 students) presenting children with out of context everyday smells. This event will be held on 13th February, 2016 from 11:00 till 13:00 hours.

 

PRESENTATION: DHARAVI DESIGN MUSEUM,which is the first museum ever created in a ‘slum’, showcasing local talent through a nomadic exhibition space and employing design as a tool to promote social change and innovation on a global scale. This event will be held on 13th February, 2016 from 16:30 till 17:15 hours.

 

BOOK LAUNCH  BY BHARAT RAMAMRUTHAM, Architectural photographer Bharat Ramamrutham has been travelling to Chettinad for years to document the grand mansions of Chettinad (Tamil Nadu). This event will be held on 13th February, 2016 from 17:30 till 18:15 hours.

 

TALK: BY DESIGNER NIPA DOSHI – Understanding the Links Between Design, Manufacturing and Cultural Values. Illustrated talk by Nipa Doshi. This event will be held on 16th February, 2016 from 18:30 till 19:30 hours.

 

SHOW TITLE – 60 / 60 ARTIST – PABLO BARTHOLOMEW – The body of work comprises 60 images that area visual testimony to friends and people in the arts, whom Pablo Bartholomew encountered as he traversed and muddled through life in his early years as he was establishing himself in the ’70s and ’80s. This event will be held from 22nd January till 21st February, 2016 from 11:00 till 18:00 hours.

 

THE BEHOLDER’S SHARE by international artist Sakti Burman (born 1936, Kolkata, India). Art Musings is presenting a solo exhibition The Beholder’s Share by international artist Sakti Burman (born 1936, Kolkata, India). SONIC ODYSSEY: A MUSICAL EXPLORATION By Zakir Hussain, Dhafer Youssef & Husnu Senlendirici. In association with Sahachari Foundation Events, the internationally renowned tabla maestro Zakir Hussain is known for his extraordinary ability to engage in musical dialogue with eminent artistes rooted in diverse music traditions from across the world. LET’S SING JAZZ, an interactive Jazz Singing Workshop. An NCPA Presentation, the Let’s Sing Jazz vocal intensive workshop for beginners will allow you to learn what it takes to be a professional jazz vocalist. This event will be held on 13th February, 2016 from 19:00 hours, onwards.

 

LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES an NCPA-National Theatre Live (London) Presentation. In 1782, Choderlos de Laclos’s novel of sex, intrigue and betrayal in France scandalised the world. Two hundred years later, Christopher Hampton’s irresistible adaptation swept the board, winning the Olivier and Evening Standard awards for best play. This event will be held on 14th February, 2016 from 15:00 till 19:00 hours.

 

LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES – THEATRE SCREENING,  an NCPA-National Theatre Live (London) Presentation. This event will be held from 15th till 16th February, 2016 from 18:00 hours, onwards.
